A message about the Gateway Course Experience Conference and your health
Please see below a message from Angie Whiteside, Vice President of Finance, Human Resources and Events:
Dear Conference Attendee,
One of our primary concerns is maintaining the health and safety of those attending our conferences and meetings; we are thus monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and how it may affect the Gateway Course Experience Conference and associated meetings and events.
All meetings and events are currently scheduled to proceed. As we get closer to the conference we will continue to monitor the situation, we will update you about changes or contingency plans on our website, via our social media feeds, and to anyone pre-registered via email.
After consulting the Center for Disease Control's recommendations for large meetings, we are taking the following steps directly to ensure the health of our attendees, presenters, advisors, fellows, and staff:
1. Our hotel will have hand sanitizer stations around the venues.
2. We’re instituting a “no handshake rule.”
3. We encourage you to stay abreast of the current recommendations by visiting the CDC Travel Health Notices.
4. At this time there are no warnings about travel within the USA. Practice CDC everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, which include:
Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily.
As with all conferences, if you do not feel well, you should avoid travel and attendance.
Please contact us if you do not plan to attend. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago in a few weeks.
Sincerely,
Angie Whiteside
VP, Finance, HR and Events
